Amazon is a horrible vendor. For a first time user like me, their service is horrible. The fool people by saying free shipping ( 5 to 7 business days) even it actually takes over 20 days. I placed an order for my vacation and it clearly said that shipping takes 5 to 7 days. But guess what, the shippment will arrive after i leave for vacation. Amazon takes over a week to prepare the shipping and another 2 weeks for the shippment to be delivered. I called the customer service but they won’t even listen and keep repeating their memorized sentence again and again. I guess they memorized it becuase so many customer call complaining abt it. I will return back to shopping at ebay and other better online sites.

I have used these binocs in lowlight and in full sun and you have very little glare because of the multicoated lenses. The 40mm lenses, although not as large as the 50 mm do work well in lowlight conditions and night time stargazing. They produce very clear images at anywhere from 10 feet to more than 1000 ft. I would certainly buy another for a present or any of the other size binocs in nikon’s lineup. They certainly know how to make an extremely high quality product for a very reasonable price. A lot of people complain about the front lens covers and I must agree with them, at least when I initially took them out of the box, but after about 10 minutes ponderng over what to do to fix the problem of an open loop on the front lens covers, I came up with a great cheap and easy fix that doesn’t ruin the overall look of the binocs at all. I’ll try and attach some pictures at a later date. If you are trying to keep from losing your front lens covers, I remembered I had a package of 3/32″ electrician’s heat shrink tubing left over from another project. I simply snipped a short length of it and slipped it over both sides of the loop and hit it with a bbq torch lighter for a couple seconds and presto chango the lens cap will now stay on any strap you affix it to and not fall off and get lost. The shrink tube creates a permanent link between the two halves of the loop and won’t fall off or get damaged and if it ever does fail, it’s easily removable with a razor blade and can be reapplied in under 2 minutes. Heat Shrink Tube Assortment – 10″ – 3/32 to 1/4-inch

You pay for what you get.

These binoculars are not very sturdy. The internal prisms are easily knocked out of place and the already fuzzy image then looks out of wack. All this has to do with the poor materials that went into the flimsy porro design.

I advise birders in particular to avoid these binoculars. Not only are they not waterproof, but they happen to be junkie all around and you can’t see anything within fifteen feet of you, so forget close looks at hummingbirds or seeing any detail on that warbler that landed about ten feet away in the brambles. Save your money and get a better pair of durable roof prisms that are fully multi-coated and phase corrected.

If it wasn’t for these binoculars being so big and cumbersome, I’d have expected to find them at the bottom of cereal box or a Happy Meal.

They work as advertised. They have good optics and are very powerful. Would be nicer if they had a wider field of view, but I got more than I paid for.

I’m no expert when it comes to these things. I bought them to watch my daughter’s crew races from approximately 1000 meters distance. The images are sharp and perfect for the distance. It is a solid piece of gear at a great price. I couldn’t be more satisfied.
